Ms. Regina Wilson

Regina Wilson is a Firefighter for the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY). She currently assigned to Engine Company 219. She has been a member of the department for 20 years and is 1 of only 92 women in a workforce of over 11,000 Firefighters and Fire officers.


Since the start of her career, Regina has assisted in every FDNY Recruitment drive to assist with hiring of applicants for the position of Firefighter and EMT. She continues to not only recruit, but also helps with physical fitness training, mentoring, advocacy and retention of firefighters in the FDNY. She has also served as a Fire Academy instructor to train probationary firefighters on Engine operations.


Ms. Wilson is now the proud immediate past President of the Vulcan Society.

The Vulcan Society is an organization of African American Firefighters, EMT’s,

Fire Inspectors, Fire Marshals and civilian employees of the FDNY. Regina is the first female President in the Vulcan Society's 79 year history. She has also served as the past President of the United Women Firefighters Organization of the FDNY.

These Organizations continue to be very instrumental in the great success of the FDNY historical hiring of women and people of color into the department.


Regina responded and assisted in the search, rescue and recovery of 9/11. She

spent several months searching for the members in her company and others who were victims of the tragedies. She was also proud to serve in the rescue and recovery efforts of both Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Hurricane Sandy in New York. She also serves as a Public Information Office trainee for the FDNY Incident Management Team


Regina has collaborated with New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Assembly member Jo Ann Simon, Senator Little and President of the UWF Sarinya Srisakul with the passage of legislation (A.08321-C) to update antiquated language in state law, making references to police officers and firefighters gender neutral instead of the term policemen and firemen.


Regina is currently detail to the New York City Office of Emergency Management (NYCEM) where she is assisting with projects focusing on keeping New Yorkers safe and prepared for any emergencies across the City. She is also an Operations liaison and public safety representative for the City’s emergency response team.
